STRATEGY FOR REDUCING HEAVY-DUTY VEHICLES FUEL

Smajo Lizde, Alma Pašić, Kenan Habota

ABSTRACT: Transport activities resulted in an increase in motorization and traffic congenstion. As a result, the transport sector is becoming increasingly linked to environmental problems. At the moment, the road transport of waste is 80% of total transport CO2 emissions in the EU. Few decades ago has seen a continuous increase in requests for mobility, which causes an increase in the level of air pollution and noise pollution, which is particularly acute in urban areas. In the EU, transport is responsible for a quarter of total CO2 emissions relating to energy and reach a share of 30% in Luxembourg, France and Spain. In some countries of Central and Eastern Europe in 1998 (former Czechoslovakia, Hungary and Poland), the transport sector was responsible for 7-11% of total CO2 emissions, while some in Slovenia was 21%. From this we can see that the transport has a smaller share of CO2 emissions in Central and Eastern Europe care in Western Europe. Specific consumption of conventional fuels is one of the ways of reducing CO2 mission from transport vehicles. Resolving the issue of the lack of knowledge is a necessary step toward limiting CO2 emissions from heavy duty vehicles. The EU has already started to work in order to directly or indirectly considered the many drivers of CO2 emissions from heavy duty vehicles, the transition to modes of transport with low carbon emissions, measures to reduce the intensity of greenhouse gases in the fuel, actively supports the development and introduction into service of vehicles with lower carbon footprint and recognized the importance of fleet management.
